Thanks for your interest in my Room to
Read Trek
Goal of this initiative
is to raise funds for scholarships: On the following pages
you can find more details about my planned hiking tour in support of Room
to Read (Morocco, Sept 26. - Oct 03, 2009). If you can’t make it that week
but would like to support me, or if you have any questions,
drop me a line.
Thanks to everyone who
supported me – and the girls! – so far. If you are thinking about making a
donation this year, consider this: By providing funds for a scholarship we
can lay the foundation to break the vicious circle of illiteracy and
poverty.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Looking forward to
hearing from you!
The Organization
Room to Read
has an ambitious goal to support education for ten million children by the
year 2020. Since 2003 it has been acknowledged as one of the 25 best
charities in the USA.
The
Trekking Tour
John Wood founded the organization after returning from a trekking tour in
Nepal. So why not come on another trek to support Room to Read! At an
altitude of 4, 071 meters, M’Goun is one of the highest peaks in Morocco.
Let’s combine the personal challenge of this trekking tour with a
humanitarian one and raise funds for Room to Read.
Your Support
About 770 million people worldwide are illiterate; two-thirds of those are
women. Almost always poverty is the cause – and the outcome. To help put
things a little right, I want to raise the funding needed for 10 girls to
go to school. And I need your help in this!
Updates
I’ll keep you in the loop about how this project is coming together with
frequent updates on our progress.
